The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical decentralized naming system for computers, services, or any resource connected to the Internet or a private network. DNS servers translate (resolve) human-memorable domain names and hostnames into the corresponding numeric Internet Protocol (IP) addresses which is used to identify and locate computer systems and resources on the Internet. A DNS hosting service is a service that runs Domain Name System servers. Most, but not all, domain name registrars include DNS hosting service with registration. Free DNS hosting services also exist. Many third-party DNS hosting services provide Dynamic DNS.
